I was getting sick and tired of posting about how I was going to get the center and tail married and then not getting to do it.  Well last night we got it done.  It took a bit of thinking about, but we handled it.  The problem was with the main spar and the height of the sawhorses.  I thought that I might have to make a

Pooh-216x300sawhorse, an idea I do not relish.  As I’ve said before, I have all these cool metal working tools but I have do not have any real wood working tools to speak of.  My neighbor across the road has offered to let me use his shop from time to time, but he’s away for the holiday weekend.  Besides, I started working it out and I realized I didn’t know how long to make the legs, so I Googled it.  I just didn’t have the gumption to try to follow these instructions.

Eventually I arrived a solution that worked out.

Right now the main spar is resting on the saw horse like this.  That is about a 30lbs part.  Just sitting here writing this I know that I have to come up with something a bit more sturdy.  One wrong nudge and that things falls on the floor.

100_1420Its hard to see in the above picture, but there is a second set of holes to the left of the line of clecos.  These have to be drilled out, something that comes later this weekend.  Getting the pieces to overlap properly was a lot easier than I thought it would be.  Michelle got in the front of the center section and wiggled it and I used an ice pick and wiggling to get the parts to come together.

Hopefully, I will get the side skins on and start getting them clecoed today.  It is Independence day, which means BBQ, beer, fireworks and such.
