Trim Tab Update
Ok, so tonight I got the kids fed and sent them off to do chores. The general consensus is that I run a gulag. They’re lucky! When I was a kid…. I’ll save that for another time.
Fitting the hinge to the tab and elevator requires a lot of fiddling around. And I fiddled around a lot with it, but I did get it on.
The bad news is I dont like it. If you were here you’d look at it and say it was fine…I have no doubt. But I’m going to try again. The outboard end of the trail edge (thats the small end) extends about 1/8th” more than it should and its my fault. When seating the hinge on the elevator I decided to move it aft just a hair…probably 1/8″. I am sure it will fly and 99% of the people in the world wont notice…but I just have to. The new hinge is only $10 plus I had to order a few other odds and ends. Here’s a tip: When the cost of a part is $5.00, just order two.
It is kind of cool having a moving part on the plane.
