Odds and Ends

May 12, 2011

Michelle says that the hinge has arrived from Aircraft Spruce.  I’ll be able to tackle that trim tab tomorrow.

This weekend my daughter Gayle and I are going to a SportAir workshop in Kansas City.  We are taking the composite class.  I know nothing about fiberglass and working with other composites, so this will be an excellent opportunity get acquainted with those materials and processes.  The RV doesn’t have a lot of composite work, but some of it is very important such as some under the cowl, the tips of the wings, rudder, HS and VS, wheel fairings…now that I think about it, I guess there is quite a bit of fiberglass. 🙂

I have to resist the urge to start on the wings.  Waiting for a part, or having a bit of down time, I am tempted to start on the wings.  I really have to focus on finishing the empennage first.
