Horizontal Stabilizer Work

May 7, 2011

Earlier in the week, before I went to Dallas on business, I assembled my HS rear spar.  I checked the blog and I started working on these parts on Feb 21st.  Thats an indication of how I’m hopping around from task to task.  Here is a finished view of the rear spar.

Forward side of the aft spar.

Aft side of the aft spar.

The blue tape on the part is a reminder so that I don’t put rivets in those holes.  When I assemble the ribs to the spar, those holes will get filled.

20 in/lbs of pressure. Used my torque wrench for the first time.

I decided to work on the HS because I am waiting for some tools that will help me finish the trim tab.  Those tools arrived this week, so my next posts will likely be finishing the trim tab….or telling you that I’m waiting on new parts for the trim tab because the spar, hinge or some other part is broken.  🙂
